CBD Beverages - CBD Drinks Rush
THE CBD DRINKS RUSH
2018 was a year which saw “CBD” become the buzz word hot on the lips of many around the Globe......If you have not yet heard about “CBD” then perhaps you have been on a remote Island (Natural Organic Pure Clean CBD Oils ) envy you dearly! ♥
The accelerating and continuously growing interest in CBD oil has made its way into the food and drinks business. We are seeing a big increase in CBD starting to show up in food products, soft drinks, coffee, cocktails and even high-end private dining experiences.
Among the products mentioned are high-end chocolate bars, chocolate covered marshmallows, CBD Gummies, even CBD infused caramel syrup to serve over ice cream or yogurt!
Most of these trends are based around repellent food, such as fermented cabbage, seaweed, and detergent pods. This time, however, the centre of the hottest trend right now is a new additive, so it shouldn’t affect the taste of your food too much.
SO WHAT DOES 2019 HOLD FOR THE EVER GROWING
CBD INDUSTRY?
Well you may have seen THIS MORNING on ITV Jan 17, 2019 with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby joining Alice Beer to look at “the best CBD products on the market”. ITV prime time Breakfast TV devoted a 30 minutes prime time morning TV slot entirely on CBD products in the ever growing Cannabis/ “CBD industry” & Market Place.
Rapper Master P bought out Trees, a line of cannabis products that includes edibles and a “liquid gold” oil while Country singer Willie Nelson recently brought out a CBD coffee range. Martha Stewart is teaming up with Canadian company Canopy Growth to develop a range of CBD health products. Meanwhile the online testimonies of stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Michael J. Fox and Morgan Freeman have proven especially valuable to the credibility of the entire sector.
HOW DID THIS ALL
HAPPEN AND MORE
IMPORTANTLY WHY?
Maybe it was in January, when Mandy Moore, hours before the Golden Globes, advised that she was also experimenting with CBD oil to offer comfort when wearing high heels (CBD corn Plasters). “It could be a really exciting evening,” she stated. Or perhaps it was earlier this month, when professional Sanjay Gupta gave an endorsement of CBD on “The Dr. Oz Show.”
In 2017 and early 2018 very few would have expected CBD 'Cannabis' to be the next big thing like “Avocado on toast “ or Cannabis being the food and heath supplement of the millennium, CBD is fast generating excitement in the soft drinks industry across the globe. Forget about kombucha, step aside quinoa – it's the cannabis extract Cannabidiol (CBD) that's the new go-to supplement of the millennial. With CBD oil popping up on food and drink menus around London and around the globe.

Hot In the press of 2018/19 - Major Brands like Coca Cola, Pepsi and Diageo have been investigating the commercial potential of CBD infused beverages with many smaller UK Micro Brewers, Soft Drinks and Health Foods Beverage Manufacturers hot on the tails of this ever Growing industry created from a 100% Natural Product which was frowned upon by many for the past 70+ years.
In the UK ”The Grocer” revealed that a third of consumers would purchase a CBD infused drink. This was based on exclusive research conducted on behalf of “The Grocer”.
2019 SEES MULTIPLE LAUNCHES OF CBD INFUSED BEVERAGES:
High Flyer Session IPA and Green Monkey who launched what is claimed to be the UK’s first CBD-infused carbonated soft drink. The sale of GoodHemp - available at Waitrose. Naturally rich in omega 3 & 6. A dairy free alternative to milk and soya made from natural hemp seed. The forthcoming launch of 'Drink 420'* a range of beverages infused with Hemp CBD (Cannabidiol). *420 commonly used to refer to cannabis or to the act of (smoking cannabis) in the USA).
CBD SUPPLEMENTS
IN FOOD
Since there is still very little research on the effects of CBD, there is a lot to discover about how it’s used and what the correct amounts may be for an individual. Adding it to food adds other considerations from the humble hemp plant, like how quickly and efficiently it is absorbed by the body in edibles or beverages. The UK's first cannabis restaurant which opened in Brighton, has a menu including sunflower seed pesto, dill coconut cream, and cranberry purée, all laced with CBD.
There is CBD-infused spring water everywhere, since last spring. Hackney's Plant Hub dishes up CBD-soaked granola energy bars, peanuts, and a dessert slice with a CBD coconut biscuit base, hemp caramel and chocolate ganache (now that's a gourmet space cake!).
ADD CBD AS A FINISHING TOUCH TO MEALS
One of the best and preferred ways to use CBD is by adding it to food or drink, it’s very easy to use it as a finishing touch on meals. The possibilities are endless and simply down to what you desire; smoothies, pasta sauces, soups, salad dressings, and even cocktails. Single serving-sized foods are easiest to control the amount you use and know exactly how much CBD you’re getting. It is advised that you do not cook the oil directly as it is sensitive to heat.
To start with go slow, stick with a low amount and over time gradually build the amount as required, find your preferred amount. The good news is, you can’t overdose on CBD, but it may take time for you to determine your ideal level of cannabidiol (CBD).

SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO THE INDUSTRY AND YOU 'THE CONSUMER' ?
A good thing that the stigma of Cannabis is slowly disappearing and becoming more socially acceptable in many circles and it appears to be a growing trend that’s set to last...
Everyone from Major giants within the industry such as Coca-Cola are quickly getting involved in this growing marketing trend… Even now, you may still be asking, what is CBD? Plenty of people still have no idea whatsoever - That’s Cannabis some will say gingerly!.... Right?!
Well! - NO, not exactly!
CBD is short for Cannabidiol, A chemical in the cannabis plant (also present in our own body). Unlike its more famous cannabinoid cousin, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD does not make you high. CBD is produced from the Hemp Plant which contains all Cannabinoids except no THC, well less than 0.2%.
Which means CBD has all the properties of this wonder plant of nature. Extracted hemp oil contains an extensive list of naturally occurring vitamins and nutrients, which include vitamins A, C, and E. Also present are B complex vitamins like riboflavin, thiamine and niacin. Hemp also further contains vitamins that are not sufficiently present in most modern diets today, like beta carotene, which helps such users gain nutrients.
Hemp / CBD oil is also a source of minerals like zinc, potassium, calcium, phosphorous, iron and magnesium to name but just a few. CBD is naturally rich in Omega-3, but modern millennial diets typically use other, less healthy fats.
THE DOWNSIDE?
Well, there is no real downside, other than the fact that we will see an abundance of major food and beverage giants within the industry as well as the smaller cottage industry type businesses all looking to make their mark and grab their piece of the market share £££ from the ever growing and expanding CBD consumer industry. Will this force the price of CBD upwards ?
Many countries and governments across the Globe all looking to decimalise Cannabis and cash in on the “Bitcoin of 2019” this could see reduced availability of CBD in the market place forcing the price of raw hemp stock to rise, in order to feed the requirements of the consumer. Or it could also see a lower quality CBD hit the market in mass manufactured products. At what price to the consumer and the CBD curious?
Most of the latest beverage products manufactured by companies who are Infusing CBD into their products such as Craft Beers and Carbonated Soft drinks etc. Will contain generally what is perceived by 'The CBD industry' to be the minimum CBD content or, just enough for 'The Wow factor' in order to enter the CBD beverages craze of 2019 and grab the public’s attention!A MASSIVE MARKETING
OPPORTUNITY FOR THE
BIG FOODS AND BEVERAGES
CONGLOMERATES
However there is no solid evidence that they will contain enough 'CBD' per drink to do anything substantial in order to affect your general daily well being or even have any significant shift in your day to day life and work life balance.

When CBD oil is added in the cooking process, the temperature food is cooked at makes a difference. That’s because very high heat can potentially degrade the oil’s potency. Taking CBD oil orally passes it through the body’s digestive system. Everyone’s body chemistry is different, and some people are more sensitive to CBD supplements than others, which makes creating edibles or your own refreshing cold beverage CBD infusion, had it be a smoothie, juice or shake to your preferred taste and your choice of flavours.... the perfect choice.
