What is CBD?

WHAT EXACTLY IS

CBD OIL?

CBD oil is a liquid extract taken from the second most prominent compound found within cannabis plants called 'Cannabidiol'- more commonly abbreviated as 'CBD'.

Before we continue let’s clear one important fact up first!...
... In layman’s terms - it is a relative or strain of the Marijuana plant! BUT It will not get you high, stoned, out of it, it does not give you the munchies or cause any psychoactivity, which is very often associated with Marijuana and its main component (THC).

Cannabidiol belongs to a group of chemical compounds which are called 'cannabinoids', these are synthesized naturally within the cannabis plant.

CBD oil is still quite new, with further research still being done and to those who haven’t had the chance to try this oil for themselves, it is often confused with the illegal substance 'weed' which actually has a very high concentration of the main psychoactive cannabinoid 'THC'.

CBD is sold in the UK as a food supplement - CBD is available to buy in the high street, and some department stores like Selfridges and Harvey Nichols sell CBD and Hemp based products along with many other high street stores and health food stores alike.

WHAT IS CBD?

CBD is a naturally occurring cannabinoid constituent of the cannabis plant. It was discovered in 1940 and it is one of over 113 cannabinoids identified and discovered so far in hemp plants, CBD accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. CBD is non-intoxicating and it doesn’t make users high.

CBD is the second most prominent compound in Cannabis.

The cannabis plant contains a lot of different cannabinoids (aspects of the plant) with the most famous and main one being 'THC' (Tetrahydrocannabinol), which as already mentioned is the ingredient that gets you high!

CBD does NOT contain

the same psychoactive

ingredient as THC!

CBD (Cannabidiol) can be taken into the body in multiple ways, those of which include; inhalation of smoke or vapour, as a spray into the cheek and by mouth, swallowed in drops or capsules,  dried cannabis, or as a liquid solution which is used externally by applying topically to the skin.

CBD OIL IS EXTRACTED FROM

CANNABIS SATIVA L (HEMP) PLANTS

CBD - Cannabidiol is one of the two major ingredients found in the Cannabis plant. It a non-intoxicating component.

Cannabis sativa is a yearly occurring herbaceous flowering plant which is indigenous to East Asia, although it is now widespread due to cultivation.
It has been cultivated throughout history as far back as records go, and has been used as a source of industrial fibre, seed oil, food, recreation, religious and spiritual aids. Depending on its use, each part of the plant is harvested completely differently.

The Hemp species was said to be first found and classified by Carl Linnaeus in 1753.

Unlike marijuana, Cannabis Sativa / Hemp is naturally rich in CBD and low in THC.
Hemp is legal within the UK, meaning it is the most prominent and logical choice for CBD Oil extraction. As well as the benefits of Hemp being well known, it also has a wide array of industrial purposes as well as environmental benefits.

Carbon dioxide-based extraction is considered to be more environmentally friendly, considerably safer, cleaner, cheaper and less toxic than using fossil fuel-based extraction - and results in a consistent product that is more palatable.

CBD Oil can be extracted in many ways as long as you have the equipment to match. However, not all methods are created equal. Until recently, butane, propane, and alcohol were the critical solvents used for extraction; today, they cannot outpace the efficacy and quality of CO₂ extraction. CO₂ extraction offers a level of control and precision the previously listed methods could never achieve.

Hemp is produced for its total mass in weight, while Marijuana is mainly produced for its female flowers - or bud.

Hemp plants are harvested and processed to harness fibres, seeds, and oils. Thousands of industries depend on hemp, ranging from textile, food, cosmetics, and fuel, as well as many others.

The Cannabis Plant also

contains over

400 Phytonutrients!

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical within the Cannabis Plant and contains over
400 Phytonutrients, using CO2 Extraction methods allows us to extract all of these natural nutrients without using any heat or harmful solvents. This means that not only are you getting a high concentration of CBD Oil, but you are also getting 400+ other nutrients in a natural, organic and easy to use product.

With state-of-the-art technology and expert extraction specialists available the supercritical CO₂ process passes through plant matter, under stringent temperature and pressure controls. The result is, therefore, a greater selection of cannabinoids and terpenes extracted, with even the most fragile compounds retained in the Oil.

By employing this unique process, cannabinoids that are often lost in other methods or destroyed can be preserved, and are therefore included in the complete CBD product range available at 'Natural Organic Pure Clean CBD Oils', as this is the process used to extract the oil used within our products.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE

BETWEEN HEMP SEED OIL

AND CBD OIL?

Hemp Seed Oil and CBD Oil come from different parts of the same plant and are processed differently.

Hemp Seed Oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the hemp plant similar to canola, sunflower, or olive oil. Standard hemp seed oil is something you can buy cheap and is very different from our full spectrum hemp plant extracts (not from seed).

Whilst Hemp extract, which contains CBD, is a full-plant extraction containing a lot of goodness not typically found in the seeds. It is extracted from the flowering buds, resin and leaves of the hemp plant, via C02 extraction. When we talk about full-spectrum CBD Oil, this is referring to the whole plant (as mentioned) being used to produce the oil.

Hemp seed oil is considered to be nutritional BUT it doesn’t have the naturally occurring terpenes, cannabinoids and other goodness!

High-quality CBD is extracted from the flowers of 'female-only' plants, which have been protected from male plants to avoid pollination. This unpollinated state means the plant puts its energy into producing big, juicy, resinous flowers and effectively, produces high levels of the CBD, other cannabinoids, and terpenes.

At Natural Organic Pure Clean CBD Oils (NOPC Oils) - we feel that It’s kind of like trying to extract fresh wonderful lemon juice from a lemon seed/pip.

Obviously, you won’t get all of the wonderful juice that has been neutered by the natural elements, such as; rain, sunlight and the nutrients contained within the soil from which it has grown. These vital elements are needed In order for the Lemon tree to grow, enabling it to produce good quality juicy lemons, in order to extract and squeeze the juice from a lemon - similar rules apply to a Hemp plant and it’s flowers - you require CBD Oils extracted from the whole plant and not just the Seed!

WHAT IS THE

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN

HEMP AND MARIJUANA?

You don’t need to be a botanist to quickly understand the basic differences between Hemp and Marijuana. Basically, if you are able to smoke it and it gets you high, then technically it is called Marijuana. Otherwise, we call it Hemp, or industrial Hemp. They both come from the genus Cannabis and species Sativa, therefore scientifically the same thing.

Legally though, they are quite different.

Its a bit like comparing brothers and sisters, both come from the same family, but each has slightly different characteristics. One might be taller, have blonde hair and blue eyes… whilst their sibling is shorter and presents a dark brown hair colour. Yet despite these differences, the siblings share an almost exact same genetic make-up to each other. Your 'Genotype' is almost identical. What differs between you is the environmental expression of these genes, the 'phenotypes'.

In the case of Cannabis, it all boils down to the amount of THC produced by that specific strain. Marijuana is a plant that presents a phenotype for high THC production while Hemp is a plant that produces extremely low THC content.
  • Marijuana can contain up to 30% THC, while hemp contains less than 0.2% (per dry weight) THC. Hemp also contains more CBD, a non-intoxicating compound than found in marijuana.
  • Hemp leaves are thinner and less densely clustered than leaves on a marijuana plant.
  • Sativa plants are tall, loosely branched and have long, narrow leaves. They are usually grown outdoors and can reach heights of up to 20 feet.
  • Indica plants are short, densely branched and have somewhat wider leaves. They are better suited for growing indoors.

WHAT IS WHOLE PLANT EXTRACT?

- FULL SPECTRUM PHYTO CANNABINOID

Whole plant extract is a Cannabis extract that has been made from the resinous flowers and smaller leaves of a Cannabis plant.

Embracing the full-spectrum of cannabis’ naturally occurring phytonutrients is part of a process called whole plant extract. Describing
a product which utilises the full hemp plant, keeping intact the full synergistic properties, which are an array of cannabinoids, as well as many essential vitamins and minerals, fatty acids, protein, chlorophyll, fibre, flavonoids, and terpenes to interact with and also to enhance the properties of CBD.

The cannabinoid THC content in Hemp is below the legal 0.2%. In accordance with EU & UK laws.

Both descriptions refer to the fact that the final end product (Oils) will contain all of the beneficial component found in the natural plant. A true wonder of nature which is a truly versatile plant! So you’re better off with a whole plant product!

Whole-plant products are also commonly referred to as broad or full spectrum extracts.
